So the additional detail that should be mentioned is that the awning fabric should be PARALLEL to the arms not just evenly spaced. My awning fabric is offset by 1/2 inch toward the front, so that I put the rivets in with the fabric on the tube set 1/2 inch closer to the front. and VOILA, now it rolls up even and doesn't bind.

whenI set it even on each side of the tube the front arm bound up.

I had to think a min ute and then figured it out...
