EZ Pass

I just bought a C class and was wondering if putting the EZ pass under the mirror will get picked up by the toll booths because of the cab? Thanks.

I think some people have had issues with ez pass reading the transponder with the class c when on the windshield. I would just get a transponder that attaches to your license plate.

Yep, several reports here of EZ-Pass issues in a Class C.
Some even had issues with it as far forward on the dash as possible, others didn't.

I’ve only seen the transponders that attach to the windshield. Where do you get one that attaches to your plate? I didn’t see this option on the ez pass website

NY and MD reference the license mount version (we have them in IL, too, for our 'I-Pass')

Here's a link to the NY page: https://www.e-zpassny.com/en/about/tolltags.shtml

Indiana will add to the fee if they see the transponder is not in or close to where they want it. I'm in Illinois and just leave mine on my dash. For my last loop through the east coast I mounted it where it should be.

Thanks. I still have my PA EZ pass account, even though I don’t live there any longer, since we travel back enough to make it worthwhile. I guess I could look into creating a separate account in Md or NY if I need the license mount.

If your Class C has a window in that forward bunk, you can try mounting the EZ Pass there.

It has always registered for me.

PA required me to use a license plate mount transponder. It is also coded in the system for my RV rather than a car. Havent had any issues in the many states I've used it in. You have to call them to get the outside transponder.
I used security screws (torx with a center pin) to secure it to the front plate mount.

Sad that you felt you had to use security Torx screws. Anyone who would steal a transponder, thinking they could use it freely on another vehicle, has to be a candidate for one of those 'stupid criminal' awards.

AFAIK, every state that uses automated toll collection has the capability of photographing the front *and* rear of your car if you pass through w/o a transponder (this has happened to me), and records are kept of every toll taken.

The I-pass worked just fine for me placed inside the cab and just behind the rear view camera (inside, on the windshield). You can check your account online to see if a payment was subtracted from your account.

I put mine low on the front window in an attempt to make it more visible to the easy pass reader, just above the dash, it works every time.

We live in Texas and bought our EZ Pass through Virginia website. They required me to get 2, the blue one is for when I'm towing the 5er and it's good for 4 axles (2 truck, 2 trailer). The white one is 2 axles (ie truck when we are not towing). We put the white out when we're sightseeing. They send a foil pouch to insert the not being used one in. Initial charge is $35 each but the total $70 goes into a single account that registers tolls from both transponders. Virginia does not charge a fee or deposit for the transponders unless you fail to send them back when or if you close your account. Also Virginia has no minimum monthly charge for any months that you don't use them. Lastly, you can pre-buy them even if you live in another state. Perfect for us RVers that travel to EZ Pass states in-frequently.

I sent my windshield mount one back for a license plate mount flavor. I was getting some misreads.

I opted for license plate mount. Had issues with my windshield mount on my Jeep because of a light bar... didn’t want to take any chances.

On a side note, I opted for an NC Quickpass, which works on almost everywhere in the Eastern Coast. It covers EZPass, Peach Pass and SunPass in FL. Just another option to consider!
