Faulty Camera

I have this passenger side mirror camera that goes on during right signaling. The same is on the left mirror plus a backup camera.

The problem is the image freezes to a still about a minute after starting the ignition. The funny thing though it starts to work perfectly after driving for several hours. No one seems to know what's wrong.Yet it's so annoying and unsafe because it's so random at times that I might think the road is clear to my right when it might not be.
I think it''s a bad splice in the cable or maybe the camera itself may have water damage from car washing.

Anyone can relate?

Faulty Camera

This is my very first post in this forum. Is it possible that no one else has a similar camera problem?

Remember reading one similar post in the last few years. Must not be a common problem. And by the way, welcome to the forum. Have you contacted your dealer about the issue?

Terrie, Did the dealer try to correct the problem of just replace the camera...ours is doing fine since they found the loose wire but our warranty is over in February did they say what caused it to scroll I do not want to be left with no warranty and it fails again

Mine works fine until it has been on a while it starts to act up. When I step on the brakes it goes into backup mode. Distance lines and microphone turns on. Anybody got any ideas?

Faulty Camera

Mine is a warranty problem and the cable or camera itself is the likely problem.
I was hoping it would be simpler. The dealer is guessing a lot as to what to do. Many long trips there with no results.

The camera should be attached to your backup lights, not the brake lights. Easy fix.

That's the way my kit is wired and the kit I put in my car is the same. There should be an odd wire spliced into one rear light socket that needs to be connected to the back up light not the brake light.

Ours acts very similar to yours. Works fine for a while and then gradually starts to get the black/white lines until it's not visible at all. It's almost like something warms up and then starts to short out. I'd like to just buy a new backup camera until on the rear (Magnadyne C125 w/ M35 mirror) and see if that works but it doesn't feel like that is the problem.

Anyone have any idea where under the dash I can find this cable to check for something?
