Firestone Air Ride

Have a 2014 Sunseeker 2860DS and the Firestone Air Ride shocks will not keep air. I read that it could be where the lines are connected at either end. Has anyone else had any issues with them keeping air?

On my 3051s the bags lost 30 psi over the winter storage of 6 1/2 months , I can live with that easy! Easy to check for leaks with soapy water mix and spray bottle, you could have something simple as a loose connection or a faulty schrader valve.

How much do they lose and how quickly? Some loss is normal. If you are losing 10 pounds a week that's not unusual. 10 pounds a day is not.

In my opinion 10psi a week is a defect somewhere in the installation or the parts on a 3 week trip you would have to air up 3 times or deal with the poor driving air chucks on the road usually won't fit have to carry your own air just a poor product all the way around if it can't be fixed but it should be fixable I lost over 20psi in 15 days on the road

I agree it would be nice but I've had air bags on 4 different vehicles (pickups to rvs) and they all lose air. The amount varies and just like tires, they lose air faster when it's cold. . I carry my own air anyway. But for the airbags I added an onboard compressor....not hard to install but involves a lot of squeezing around underneath. But after 4-6 hours of torture, it's set and I just top them off from the comfort of the cab each morning.

Just wanted to mention that camping world told me that they lost about 27 psi every time they checked the airbags that's why I think mine are leaking I think new techs are needed at camping world or at least a new guage

If memory serves, there has been other post and the problem is in the spray foam that is applied over the air lines making it almost impossible to find the leak. Several members have rerun the air lines. I am a lucky one. My airbags might drop 10 lbs over a period of several months.

I can see chasing down a leak in a motorhome might be tuff...the help at rv establishments aint top notch....if you are nimble and are able to crawl under the vehicle [drive front end on ramps] and inflate bags to 80 psi then go at the lines and valves with brush and soapy water...with that much loss you should get bubbles. I had a western hauler type bed built for my last truck... put bags on and had zero leak or loss of pressure over 8 yrs [altho I was often changing pressure from 30 -80 psi depending on load].

I assume them to be consumables. I cut pass where my rub was and added a new connector. I did not try to salvage them. I did put split tubing over the entire run for future protection.

What I'm talking about is if I pull the tubing out of the connectors cut square and re insert to connectors that is if I can find a leak there at 100 psi over a few minutes some times it takes a few minutes to show a leak with soap if it is really a slow leak

I have installed 3 Firestone air bag systems. They all have had initial installation leaks. I have just removed the tube from the connectors, re-cut the tube reinsert, check for leak move on down the road. My last rig had the airbags on it for 6 years and it would loose a few pounds of air over a few months, but not enough to be an issue. Removing and reinserting into original connectors is no problem. Cut, reinsert until there are no more bubbles.

Thanks I think that's what I am going to have to do I have got leaks but no one can find them I have seen it take 15 minutes to find a leak keep spraying with soap solution but the pressure test would drop 2-3 psi and you might see just small bubbles only from almost constant soap testing but it will show if you can view the connections
