Frigidaire microwave convection oven crapped out, replacing and want external vent

I have 2014 3050S and the oven keypad is failing causing random actuations and other times is non-responsive.

Looking at replacing and wondering how hard it would be to incorporate external venting. One of the shortcomings in the current design is that when using the cooktop I get frequent smoke detector alarms.

So two questions for the forum:

1. What replacement models have or would you go with?

2. Has anyone added external venting via the over the range fan?

Thanks

Wes

Don't have a 3050 but my 3120 does not have an external vent fan over the range because it's on an interior wall. Since the fan isn't vented the 3120s got a standard power ceiling fan in the kitchen area to take smoke out. I bought the materials and plan to install an external 3" vent for my range fan this winter. It will go out thru the roof.
Would be difficult to do that on the 3050 because your range is in the slide. It also seems odd that your fan isn't vented since it's on an external wall. Could it be as simple as the exterior vent flapper is not open. I know a number of people have had posted problems with them.

ATVer

No cover on the outside. Yes it is a slide but still think it can be done out the outside through the wall. Other option is install fan in kitchen vent, have three others counting the bath!

Maybe BC can weigh in on the design of the wall studs in the slide and let us know if it can be done.

Well, good news bad news.

1. That Frigidaire is under a recall for that exact same issue. Letters should have gone out. BUT Frigidaire claims NO responsibility. The range may activate on its own. Well, they say they put warning in the manual that says "not to store anything in the microwave" so this "defect" would not cause any problems. Of course the NHTSA says people store stuff in there anyway and so we end up footing the bill.

2. As for the wall studs. There would be no framing in there. It probably could vent, but you would need some sort of compression fit item. On the inside you can screw into the lauan panel. On the outside al you're going to get is fiberglass. You could screw in an caulk it really well to hold it maybe.

Contacted FR warranty group, they authorized a service center to replace my micro oven. Wish I didn't have to take it to some one, I offered to do it myself, but no go.

Update, warranty authorization didn't work, but FR is sending me new oven at their cost and I will install it myself in Spring.

This works for me!

My micro crapped out also, called repair center that was susposed to fix it, guy tore it apart in my garage because he didn't want to work on it in MH ( I had to remove it,he didn't know how) then stated he didn't know what was wrong with it, ended up getting new one from Forest River, shipped to me and I installed it my self.
