Front Overcab Clearance Light Cover(s)

Since this subject comes up from time to time for those of us that have an "older" Sunseeker or Forester, I thought I would pass this on.

The clearance lights were manufactured by a company called Glo-Brite who is no longer in business. Few parts suppliers have parts by now but, every once in a while they appear. They look like THIS

Yellow Lense - Click HERE

They may be pricey but available.

I carefully removed each lens and inspected it for cracks and replaced as necessary. Because it takes an almost acrobatic skill to deal with these lights, I decided to "modify" them as follows

I purchase these LED's Click HERE

You want to use this style as it uses a miniature PC Board for the contacts. Don't use the plastic base types as they will not last due to heat (I know)

Before inserting the LED assembly, put a smear of Permatex dielectric grease on the board portion to keep corrosion in check

Apply a small bead of RTV silicon adhesive on the inside edge of the lens before reapplying. This will keep water intrusion to a minimum.

I completed this mod three to four years ago with no issues

Thanks. I found the rectangular rear ones on Amazon. Luckily my oval front ones are still OK, but worth knowing regardless.
