Full Timing in 2300

Hey everyone,

New here and my husband, Mike, and I are new to the RVing world. We've done a lot of camping, and recently, a lot of traveling. Our biggest adventure is coming in a few weeks as we start our full-time semi-gypsy life. I say, "semi" because we'll be starting as Park Hosts in a quiet, day-use COE park in central TX for at least the first month. So, any of you out there living full-time in a 2300? Ours is a 2013 and has been well-loved and maintained. We've camped in it this summer numerous times in State Parks and COEs and have put it through its paces. Would love to connect with other FTers or even those of you who live in a 2300 months out of the year.

Hi Jane. I just ordered a 2300. I've been traveling in a 24' travel trailer pulled by a cargo van for the last 6 months, and I've decided to downsize to the 2300 so I wouldn't always have to worry about finding a campground. While waiting for delivery, I'm selling all of my stuff that won't fit in the 2300. Jim

We plan on FT'g in the next year or two in our 2300. We have done 9 days max so far, but that was with 2 adults and 2 kids so we really max'd it out. It was actually much easier than expected and we were no-where near ready to go home and get out of it. We have done several week longers and of course other trips too.

We used to think "we could use more room". BUT, when we are in it and after every trip we always say "that is a perfect size for a minimal life". We really do enjoy it, and the fact that it is a very simple unit.

Living small is awesome.

You'll love your 2300! Shortly before retiring in 2014, my DH and I bought ours. Since then we've been camping more than we've been home: 7 week trip to New England, Nova Scotia and PEI, 7 week snowbird trip to Florida, and this summer we spent 2.5 months in Alaska - driving the whole way. The two of us have managed just fine and love traveling in it. The secret is: A place for everything and everything in it's place. Also give each other some space and never forget your sense of humor! Go for it and HAVE FUN!

Jane,,,,my wife and I have been full timers for 4 years now and we're park hosting at a COE in central Texas. Which park are you going to work? We're at Lake Georgetown just north of Austin.

Hi Grampa Jim, We're going to be at Promontory Park on Proctor Lake - pretty far from everywhere. LOL About 2 hours southwest of Fort Worth and 1.5 hours drive from Abilene.

Have a good time, Jane,,,,,I don't know if you are under the Ft Worth District as we are here in Georgetown, but Lake Georgetown has been a base for us since most of our family lives in the Austin area. This was our first rv experience here and the set-up they have here has spoiled us for all other COE's. We'll be volunteering here until March when we head out to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina next spring. Then we'll be back here. We have spent a couple stays at Benbrook COE just southwest of Ft Worth in the past. Nice country there, also. Who knows,,,,we might be hosting the same park down the line. Happy travels.

Jane, I'm FT in my 2014 24SLED MBS Solera. Plenty of room for the things I need, good manuverability and flexible. I did add 500 watts of solar and two more batteries. I enjpy camping off the grid and the extra capacity makes it easy to do so. Happy travels!

Grampa Jim, We are in the Fort Worth District too. How has your 2300 held up? Do you tow a vehicle? We are unable to tow right now, so I'll be following behind with our RAV4. Hoping to sell it while we are there and buy a good vehicle for towing.

Jane,,,,,we have a 3029W Windjammer towed by an F250 diesel. It does well in the Rockies. We'll be heading to the Blue Ridge Parkway next spring,,,,,,The Appalachians are more merciful than the Rockies so we won't have any problems.

An update: We have been full timing now 4 months. We have learned a lot!
So far, so good though. The antenna was teplaced with a newer model; we found more storage under the dinette; removed the back dinette cushions and table- opting for bedrest pillows and small folding table. Installed s tv in the bedroom area for DVDs and Kindle offline stresming. Heading to our second camphosting job in El Malpais Near Grants, NM. Loved our first job in TX!

We snowbird with ours. We've been out about 7 weeks on our current trip, with 3 weeks to go. It's tight. Our main wish would be for better lounging in the evenings. Second would be for another foot of counter top. We have realized our snowbird trips are going to turn into a lot more sitting in one place, so we are kicking around the idea of going bigger.

We have a 2015 2300 We LOVE it we camp 6 weeks at a time when we go 2 adults 2 large dogs We did put a small refrigerator in the back compartment so we can have more cold storage and not have to go to the store so often . We did not get a gas oven but ordered a convection micro wave so we got 2 extra drawers in the oven place in the kitchen we also got the see thru vinyl windshield covers so we do not feel closed in when inside now to replace the frosted door window with a no frosted tinted window and I will be a happy camper I need Hoglou to help me he always has good ideas I think he is in Georgia as well I could live in mine no problem!
