Gas cap

Hi all,

Well after having 40 gallons of fuel siphoned at a Walmart stop in Az, I stopped and bought a locking cap. The cap I got was for a 2011 e450 as that is the platform of my unit

The cap seemed to fit correctly but after 1500 miles, the loose cap warning light came on. Does anyone have an idea of the correct cap I need to buy as it seems this one is not sealing....

My unit is a 2011 E450 3010DD sunseeker

Crazy. $100 worth of fuel is worth getting shot at? What is wrong with people?

You may need to get one from Ford !

Wal Marts have turned into crime centers! Were you inside shopping when this occurred ?

Not that this helps you, but WMs normally have pretty good surveillance cameras. Did you get a chance to view it if available ?

I bought a locking gas cap from NAPA in 2010 for our Ford E450 Sunseeker and in nearly 48,000 miles never got a loose cap warning. I think it is a Stant brand

When you went in to Napa did you bring the original cap to verify the new one was correct? There are many different styles with similar threads but the sealing surface for the gasket may be different.

Tell me about it.

All the damage to my wife's Transit van has happened at Walmart. Talk about rude and inconsiderate bad drivers...Thats Walmart.... and she parks out in the 'pucker bush' too.

Many years ago, Paul Harvey shared a story on his radio show, about someone who had what looked like an auxiliary fuel fill door on their vehicle. In actuality, this was an access port to a certain ... well, as anyone here in the forum well knows, "Black Tanks Matter." Long story short, some highly motivated individual had come by, wanting to siphon gas. The owners of the vehicle came back after being away, and discovered the open hatch, a hose sticking out, and evidence that someone had been very, very sick ....

I have heard this story many times, and I call b.s. on it. I have never, not even once seen an RV with any kind of access to the black or grey water tanks from the outside excluding the dump hose connection and there is no way anyone is gonna mistake that one for a gas fill. The only thing I have ever seen that could possibly be mistaken is the freshwater fill on certain units.

I never put locking gas caps on my vehicles. Theives around here have taken to using a prybar to pop off the cap or drilling holes in gas tanks to steal the gas. I'd rather just have them take the gas and be on their way than to tear up my vehicles AND steal my gas.

The gas tank and gas cap are furnished by Ford with the chassis. I asked NAPA for a locking gas cap for a 2010 E450.

I just looked up the receipt and the part number is BK 703-1648, so it was their house brand, Balkamp, not Stant. It's possible that your year model would use a different part number.

I'm aware to how they come because of my previous profession as a fabricator. I also know that the supplied filler neck was not always used.
When it comes to RV's I would never assume.

We were inside for 20-30 min and were parked in the middle of a busy lot.. Walmart will not show you any video without a court order...

That sounds bogus to me. In this area they show video to police without court orders. Management could review video and tell you or cops if they saw someone in the act.

Is it Walmart's intention to protect crooks at the expense of law abiding customers? Probably not but...

Sounds like Detroit. In the Motor, they msteal your gas and cut off the catalytic convrter too. You get some gas in it, start it up and sound like a race car.... That is if it's not sitting on blocks because they took the rims and tires too.

Sounds silly, but did you check to see if maybe your cap was really just loose.
