Gasoline Odor in Coach when refueling

When I refuel my 03 FR Sunseeker 2890 (Ford chassis), I get a STRONG gasoline odor in the cab and coach for more than a few minutes. I checked the filler pipe and tank and they appear to be leak free. The rig has 38,000 miles so I don't think it would be a problem with the emission control system. Any other ideas on what might be causing the nauseating gasoline odor when refueling? Thanks

My guess is something associated with the tank vent system. It could be a failed line or something disconnected at the carbon canister. Not sure where it is but it is often on the frame along the passenger side of the engine. That might explain why the cab area smells so bad. Look for lines coming off the tank and follow them. There could be 4 or 5 since there are likely 2 fuel injection related lines, feed and return, and one to the generator as well.

Long overdue update: Turns out that the filler pipe had a crack at the pipe-to-tank end.
