Grand Teton

This may be the wrong forum. Considering a summer 2015 Grand Teton national park visit. Where to camp?

Do you need hookups? That will be the biggest determining factor in recommendations on that area.

Grand Tetons look great. What a wonderful trip to take. I hope to see them one day myself. Enjoy.

For full hookups the best bet is colter bay rv park. Note that there are two places with colter bay in the name but the rv park has the hookups. Nice place in the pines not far from Jackson lake.

If you want to spend some time in Jackson then the ponderosa is a good choice. Nothing special about it but the location is walking distance to town.

For a nice place without full hookups I like Gros venture too.

It's a great place esp if you like to do some moderate hiking.

Just spent 4 days In coulter bay last week....was great!!..sites arent super huge and if your rolling 60ft total like we are u gotta take the turns slow.....other than that it was a GREAT base camp...we hiked trails, traveled a good bit around (jackson for a new dang tire, but tahts for another thread lol)...even ran across a grizzly bear by oxbow bend !!!!...the restaurant is good, the market was good, and even a propane refill was not bad (19$ for a 30lb tank)....it was in the 30's at night!!

Anyplace but the KOA south of Jackson. That place is a zoo.

It was undeniably awe inspiring there...the photo does it NO justice....it was taken real quick with my cell phone. ...the ones from my "good" cameras dont do it justice either....if you can ever make it there....even for a day, I highly recommend it...

Thanks. From what I read reservations are important. Does Colter bay RV take reservations. Is it safe to not have reservations?

Yes they do take reservations. If you are going anytime between about mid June thru mid august reservations are a good idea. It's often pretty full

As I was leaving I asked and they were booked full through end of august...now not sure how far ahead they had been booked....I started reserving spots in January. ...and even then I only got 3 days in madison (inside yellowstone) when I wanted 4.....so just goes to show...

Seems the prices out there are pretty high. Colter Bay at $54 a night. What was favorite camp?
