Guess what time it is? Time to dewinterize!

Spring is here and so is camping season. I spent my first night in the RV this year this past Saturday. I don't have a way to dewinterize at my house so I went to a nearby KOA and got a full hookup site. I did a video of the steps I took to dewinterize if anyone is interested. I used city water to flush the antifreeze from my lines before I sanitized the fresh tank and ran that water through the lines over night.

I have to thank the good folks here with helping me out. The anode rod did not seat all the way in and I thought it was supposed to. I posted a question about it on the plumbing forum here and had answers in no time. So I was able to sanitize the hot water heater and had no leaks.

Now I can't wait to get more nights on the road.

De-winterize?
Round here we just change out the long sleeve t-shirts and warm shorts for t-shirts, tank tops and cooler shorts.

(Sorry- I had to rub it in)

gmacklm, how are we going to be snow birds liv'en in GA? Less your counting the 2/14 ice capades. DW made the 5 hour (50 mile) trek from sloppy floyd to C'ton that day..

Guess ya got to be from around here to break that code...

I noticed the water on the bay floor in your video. guess it is from the filter. I like many have deleted the filter and installed drain valves. the bay now stays permenently dry. I also ran my drain lines out the back of the coach so I dont stand in the water either. the pex lindis simple to work with. PM me if I can help..

lol not even close... we had 11 inches of snow between 0800 and 2400 Monday this week.

But our Grandson thinks that thought is funny.

Wow thanks for that Winter storm/blizzard warning here for the next two days with 25-30 cm of snow. So no worries about de-winterizing here for quite some time.

Thanks for the vid.
It always helps to see things being done to help stop a forgotten step.
As an alternative to bleach I picked up (at the RV shops recommendation)

The Gallon was $19 but I think you get 4 applications out of the quantity
I also got a new anode rod but used the original for Two seasonsClick image for larger version

I have been told this rod is still serviceable but considering the size of the chunks I drained out of the tank last fall,I decided to swap it out
Thanks again

Looks fine... should be good for another season or two. But really, I cant imagine the fun you will have when that puppy breaks off inside of the hw heater. It will make getting the lime out of my corona look easy...
