Help Installing Brake controller on New 2014 E-450 Super Duty 2860DS

the p3 is thicker at the front end and would not slide back any more.

Mine had to stick out slightly because of the adjuster wheel on the bottom of the controller.

Forbes: I guess it came with tow package, 7500# Hitch and wired up with 7 pin connector at the hitch. and prewired for the brake controller behind the cubby/coin holder. just plug in the controller with a pre wired cable, no spliceing wires etc. Downside not really any good spot under dash to put it because of leg/knee room. It would have been a nice (choice) to have the OEM controller and I think some switches (3) come on it for adding extras 12VDC items. My wife isn't fond of me adding on stuff in a vehicle LOL.. like my amateur radio etc.... Its got to look original!! LOL

If anyone else has pics of their install I would be happy to see them, Not in a real hurry to install the controller.. I have the cable installed and I just have to figure which controller to use. I was going with the P3 but the RV dealer said it was way overkill for most applications so still haven't made up my mind. I have an OEM ford controller on My F-350 diesel Heavy Duty that I tow my T26Y Jayco toy hauler and it works great so I'm thinking maybe the original ford brake controller for the F-450 Super Duty Chassis/ 2860DS MH might be the way to go. Is anyone running that OEM controller on their MH?

What is the purpose of this? First ever having a RV always had a trailer. I have my Jeep wired to pull with hitch bar and have a Brakebuddy is there something I have not read about that I am also needing?

For trailers etc with electric brakes. all states are different but seems most require electric brakes on all axels if over 3000# I've never had a brake buddy type system so don't know the requirements. My brother in law has a 6000# boat that has surge brakes that are technically illegal but is widely overlooked on marine trailers and rentals. lots of different regs and all states are different. Typ. flat bed trailers and travel trailers, toyhaulers etc have elect. brakes .

You can sort of see it in this picture. Too small really...but right next to the change holder is the Ford brake controller. We have installed some for a rental dealer and we just put them right in the change holder, sticking out.

O.K., I found the plug behind the coin holder, but it looks nothing like the back of the Prodigy controller. Do I still need the wire with adaptor or just an adaptor-from Ford?

Yup. That's for the OEM brake controller.

Like to know what his thinking is behind that. For a proportional controller it's hardly very spendy, feature rich, allows for multiple tow profiles, operates at extreme angles, operates in revers, and one of the best built units on the market. What was his rationale and alternate suggestion?

Maybe because he doesn't carry Tekonsha's?
