Insurance Costs?
In preparing for our new bouncing baby Sunseeker, I've started gathering insurance quotes. Pretty surprised at the costs being around $2000 a year for a stated value plan. Is this realistic? I've done a few searches, but found few Class C responses.

Prices can be all over the board. We have a 2011 class A and it is $600 with progressive.

We recently received a Sunseeker 2650S, and are paying just under $750/year with State Farm. However, the price includes higher liability coverage to be included under our full Liability Umbrella.
Edit - Oops. Forgot to mention, we just received an $80 rebate check for adjusted price quote. Don't understand, but will be cashing the check anyway ;o)

We pay about $625 a year on our 2014 Sunseeker 3170 with Allied - replacement cost, awning coverage. Pays to shop around. Had quotes as high as $1200 for same coverage. I ended up changing home and auto as overall package was much better that what I had previously.

Using Goodsams insurance. Around $480 per year with $1000 deduct. Will replace coach with a new one if totaled for the first 5 years and covers the awning from storm damage. I am a GS life member. It was underwritten by GMAC but their name changed just last month.

Oh, forgot, you can call to suspend the liability when parked for the winter. I live in the south so probably not exercise that option.

I have 2012 3120 with Nationwide and it's $260 per year. That's for full coverage comp and collision (500 deductible). If you keep your other auto and home policies etc within the same company you can get great rates at least with Nationwide.

Someone must be using "Guido's RV Insurance, Bond and Loans, LLC"
$2000 a year is crazy. Or you opted for the "Gold Plated Full Body Paint Package"

It was Allstate, my current auto/home company. It was the "Titanic" package...

I have a 2013 Forester #3051S with a replacement cost of $108,000. My Allied Insurance is $834.00 annually with the first 5 years having complete replacement cost. Your insurance rate will be based on the RV's value or sales invoice. The higher the insured value the higher the rate. Some people can lower their rate by storing the RV during the winter months. I live in South Florida and use my in the summer and winter.
My 2010 Newmar Dutchstar Class "A" was $2,500 annually.

Forgot to add insured at 109,000 and we included full replacement to the policy. This is a year round policy as I use the motor home often due to being in the south.

That whole concept of an RV's value is bizarre to me relative to a conversation about insurance. For our '13 3100, State Farm lists a sky high value. I don't have the number with me but it was basically MSRP. I told my agent that we paid significantly less, especially since we bought through RV Direct. And, if I had to replace it tomorrow, feel very comfortable that I could get an equally good deal. Basically, I was trying to have a lesser value so my premium would be less. No dice. Agent said the so called "value" comes up in the computer and he can't adjust it. Just another reason my financial planner says the two biggest / nicest buildings in any town are banks and insurance company's (I.e., they have enough money already so don't give them anymore!).

I have large values because of liability costs. I hit some one and cause several vehicles to crash or property damage I will hopefully be covered. It doesn't take much to rack up 100,000 in damages
I may have high limits but I also have a lot to loose.

Good point....I have a 5 million umbrella policy that covers me. I teach gun safety and defensive training to smaller PDs and citizens...Been doing it for years and would not consider not having coverage to protect me and the family.
