Kayak on my Forest River?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to transport my kayak on my 2006 Forest River 29ft motorhome? It's a cheapy kayak that is only 10 feet.

There are racks that allow you to store them vertically on the back

So no way to transport without a rack? We are towing a car behind, I've thought of putting it on the top of the car. But I really wish there was a way to attach it to the back of the motorhome without a rack. To the ladder?

Don't see why you couldn't strap it to the ladder as long as it is secured properly and not too high. A rack on top of the car will give you the benefit of transporting the kayak to a spot away from your campsite without having to take the motorhome

Roof top mount on your toad... That's what I would do if I had a toad setup.

We tow a 14' utility trailer behind our 3170DS. That way we can bring it all with us!

I am about to buy a Kayak and I was hoping to put a rack on the top of my 5er, any comments or suggestions to this idea?

I don't know if this will work for a Kayak, but it worked great to hold my 6" ladder on the ladder rack. Might be possible to hang it on the lower rungs, and have the hook sit inside of the seating area or really low and set the bow into as a cradle. Then strap down to the ladder rack...I can take measurements if needed.

We have a 2014 Sunseeker 2500TS and our toad is a Smart car. We have 2 10 ft kayaks that we carry on J racks on top of the Smartie. They ride just fine there and the Smartie just follows us like a puppy!

Please take pictures, as I think your height will be interesting going down the road. Plus, think about the load, unload that high up, however it would be fun to watch.

Seriously, consider a verticle rack behind your unit because of those reasons. Just sayin'

If your ladder is located in the same place as mine you kayak may cover your taillight on the rig. You should have brake and turn lights on your toad however. I have a 5vr so carrying my 12' angling kayak was a pain. Had to put inside of 5vr. I purchased a Sea Eagle inflatable and it works great to take along with the 5vr. I bought the SE330 Deluxe package. Like it a lot.

I am soon to have the same dilema. Moving from a TT toy hauler to a 2500TS. Kayak and fold bote would go in the trailer. bikes and all kinds of stuff in the truck. Fantastic storage under fold down bed in cargo area. I have a sea eagle explorer. Very capable boat, but not the same as a hard side SOT. To regain some storage and convenience, it appears a toad is going to be a necessity. Hopefully they will come out with a light weight compact pickup again. It can carry all the toys and more. It would be far easier to have a small truck and not be limited to places you can ride or paddle. But if no toad, inflatable or modular is the easiest route
