Kayak on the ladder

I have a 10 ft' kayak that I want to take with me this week on a trip. I have it strapped to the ladder on the back of my 3010ds. Seems to be pretty solid and secure with only about 3 or 4 inches above the top of the ladder. My question is... Will the ladder handle this weight?

I have seen this question asked before and a search might prove more helpful comments.

I do recall that while the ladder is "good" for 225 pounds of user climbing it for maintenance, the Kayak sticking into the airstream will put drag induced weight where you do not want it; PULLING the ladder from the wall.

This puts maximum stress on the screw threads and the sealant at the roof and top of the wall. The wall itself is providing almost no support to this "extra weight."

I think the short answer was "bad idea."

Perhaps a "roof mount" of some kind streamlined into the wind would put less stress on the roof material. Watch your height increase, though.

Ok.. I also had a concern about mounting to the ladder, and am glad I checked. Here is the other issue I had with this. It covers the tail light and half of the license plate....
Scrap this thread.

NO WAY!

If you asked, someone else will too and find this.

Thanks for posting!
