Key questions to ask with motorhome checkout:

We have traded our 5th wheel for a 31ft motorhome. We will be doing the final paperwork and checkout later today.
What vital questions should I ask?

Ask if you can record the walk thru.

During your walk thru if they are going to fast ask them to slow down.

If at anytime you do not understand something make them stop and repeat it till you do.

Be sure to have them show you how EVERYTHING works, starting and stopping.

Let no switch go unused or unknown ask about hidden from view switches.

Ask about generator maintenance fueling starting/stopping.

Ask about starting backup or secondary systems you may have.

Print a couple of the PDI forms, you fill one out an have the other half fill one out and then compare the information before you are done.

You owned a 5th wheel and the coach portion of the MH is no different than your trailer. With your experience and previous issues I would think the answer is; what would you have asked about the 5th wheel if you had it to do all over again? The chassis of course is another issue but what would you ask when purchasing a new car? The items in the MH that were not part of the trailer would be major concerns. Make a list of items and have them covered to your satisfaction prior to delivery. A lot of variables and good luck.

Key questions to ask with motorhome checkout:

As others said, you aren't newbies so focus on what's different. A few come to mind based on what people frequently ask about in this forum:

Generator including a soup to nuts of how to prime, start, stop, exercise, & maintain if you're a DIY type.

Water filter location.

Fresh drain valves location.

What's where under the hood. Auxiliary start. Magnadyne. Auto jacks if you have them.

Heat pump if you have it.

Water heater bypass valve location (especially if you're getting the 3050).

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Ford Idaho for the great checklist. Just printed it out. I will be picking up my 2014 3010DS the last week of Jan. and this should really help.

Have the technician show you the location of the circuit breaker and fuse panel, as well as the circuit breaker on the generator.

Also, the location of the GFI receptacle and which other receptacles it feeds.

Yes. Just pop the DVD in, turn the TV to AV1 or AV2. Not sure which...I think they change it on the line just to toy with my sanity.

If you have the emergency brake on...it will even play on the tiny screen. You'll get a blue screen of warning...just touch that to bring up video.

Should have had 'em show you how the furnace worked - so they could have showed you all the other stuff too!
