ladder bike carrier

Any opinions pro or con on using a ladder bike carrier ? Because of a rear bumper spare tire carrier, the hitch mount we have currently will not work. Click image for larger version

Don't see any problem. Use one to carry two fairly hefty gravity type recliners on our Lexi's ladder.
In pic you can see the rack on ladder as well as my spare tire carrier.

We just slid the spare over to the side, then used the regular hitch type (on our former TT). It was one of those square mount receivers that used the u-bolts to mount to the trailer. Worked out fine -- spare got one side of the bumper and the bikes (4 of them) go the other, although the bike hitch was closer to center. Additionally, we used the hitch for one of the hitch haulers when we had big BBQ grills to tote along.

I used the ladder rack on the old Fleetwood
It worked but I had to be careful when mounting the bikes to prevent any rubbing or damage to the coach from the handle bars.
The rack itself was not expensive but didn't hold up all that well.We started to get sag and bend in the support arms over a season of use
I use the hitch mount "V" style now on the Sunseeker

Rubbing or damage to MH or flat out losing a bike on the road are my worst fears !

I've been using a ladder rack for a few years now. Holds 2 bikes no problem. Handle bar rests on the license plate, so no damage to the motorhome.
