Leak into the entry of the grey tank 2013 3170ds

Had an interesting leak and unit is in the shop right now. The top of the grey tank was dripping into the enclosed tank area. Diagnosed it as a leaky pipe into the top of the grey tank and sure enough that was leaking. Repair shop has to drop both tanks, take out part of the wall to acccess the pipe part in the house, and rebuild the pipe entry point, claiming the pipe was too short. If I didn't have enclosed tanks, it wouldn't as big an issue since the drips are small but it needs to be fixed.
Anyone else experienced this? What was the repair bill?
Also, I am new to the forum and I have learned tremendous amount from all of you. We just got the unit a few months ago and really like it.
