Good stuff -- I would tape the latch so it doesn't snag again until you can figure out what happened.

A simple fix------------

Remove door knob assembly, go to Lowe's or Home Depot, purchase same type door knob assembly, re-install new assembly. Should correct your problem rather fast!

I have another idea.

Is your camper level?

ANY twist in the camper's frame will "rack" the door in the frame and cause it not to open. Using a carpenter's level, check the floor left to right and front to back. The bubble must be between the two lines.

In addition to what Herk said, I've cranked the stabilizers to hard in effect "arching" the frame, causing the door to either not latch, or being very hard to turn the door knob.

Now that the door is open, does the door knob work?

Try retracting the stabilizers and see if the door and door knob works OK

I have had issues with doors when the level was off before, that was my first thought too. Perhaps in the future, open the door slightly before doing the leveling? (if it was that issue, anyway)

Sounds like a frame jamb issue and/or the internal lock mechanism was improperly installed or had a mechanical failure. Also, if this happens, perhaps you can pop up the hing pins on the other side of the door to get it open in an emergency.

Sounds like an arched frame to me, I hope they are not using the stabilizers to level the trailer ....
