Locked out of bathroom!

Please help. This is our second time out with our new 3170. We arrived at the campground after hours unfortunately. Well we have ever thing set up, go to use the bathroom and the doorknob will not budge. Someone please tell us how to get this door open without pulling it out. I didn't even realize there was a lock on the door.

Shot in the dark, but does the doorknob have a hole in it that you can stick in something skinny and pointy to pop the lock, assuming there is one?

Does it look something like LSK-C2-OWB ? If so it may be best to call dealer for quick advise - failing that call the warranty folks - there should be a quick fix for this

depending on the structure you may be able to pry gently between the lock and frame to open - with a small screw driver or try a credit card or similar object to release the catch

We need in there like now. I wonder if they'll cover a hacksawed door?

Thanks for trying to help. This lock is not budging. We've tried a hanger, credit card, butter knife.

My husband finally got it. No lock on the inside either. That was really crazy!

Good stuff -- I would tape the latch so it doesn't snag again until you can figure out what happened.

A simple fix------------

Remove door knob assembly, go to Lowe's or Home Depot, purchase same type door knob assembly, re-install new assembly. Should correct your problem rather fast!

I have another idea.

Is your camper level?

ANY twist in the camper's frame will "rack" the door in the frame and cause it not to open. Using a carpenter's level, check the floor left to right and front to back. The bubble must be between the two lines.

In addition to what Herk said, I've cranked the stabilizers to hard in effect "arching" the frame, causing the door to either not latch, or being very hard to turn the door knob.

Now that the door is open, does the door knob work?

Try retracting the stabilizers and see if the door and door knob works OK

I have had issues with doors when the level was off before, that was my first thought too. Perhaps in the future, open the door slightly before doing the leveling? (if it was that issue, anyway)

Sounds like a frame jamb issue and/or the internal lock mechanism was improperly installed or had a mechanical failure. Also, if this happens, perhaps you can pop up the hing pins on the other side of the door to get it open in an emergency.

Sounds like an arched frame to me, I hope they are not using the stabilizers to level the trailer ....
