Looking to Purchase

Hello,

My husband and I sold our Winnebago Class C at the end of last summer. We had purchased it new in 2001 and are now looking for a replacement. We are interested in a new Forester 2861DS or Sunseeker 2860DS. (I will post this in the Forester threads also). We are located near Ithaca New York and are interested in any opinions people may have on dealers in the area (pro and con), options to consider, and any other information you would care to share. We currently plan to talk to Ballantyne RV in Rochester, Wilkins RV in Bath, The Great Outdoors in Fulton, and RVOne in Buffalo, along with RVW.

We are sure we will have to order the unit because having it on a Chevy chassis is a must.

Any input you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It may take you awhile if a Chevy chassis is a "must". Currently Forest River is not making any motor homes on the Chevy van cutaway chassis. GM cut / suspended their van cut away chassis production and changed the plant over to their new mid-size pickup. I suspect that when GM makes the chassis readily available again FR will resume using them.

Hopefully Josh, the FR Class C Rep, will see this post and can give you an update.

Thank you for your response Wayne. I had heard they has suspended making the Chevy chassis for Class C's also but didn't know when they might resume. Here's hoping it is soon! And I'm hopeful Josh will have additional information.

My 2013 Sunseeker 3010DS, fully loaded, with toad, and many extras will be in market March 1st. About 12k miles. No issues.

Wilkins is in Rochester (Chili) and Bath. I've shopped them all, and they would be my preferred dealer I your area.
