Loud generator

We have a sunseeker 2690. The onan micro quiet generator is very loud. Does anyone have a trick the will dampen the noise? Is there anything that can be mounted on the inside of the generator compartment door to reduce the noise?
Thanks.

Onan "micro quiet" generator loud?? I have a 2860, ordering the Onan in place of the Generac was my biggest mistake. I don't feel it's that quiet, plus I've had a few issues with it. My previous RV had a Generac, no problems with it. Sorry I'm not helping with your question, but it gave me a chance to vent - lol...

Is there a choice of generators in the Sunseeker? If there is, I guess I need to do some research and check reviews before we order our 3050S

When I ordered my 2860DS in 2012, I had the choice of the standard Generac, or "upgrade" to the Onan. I took the Onan. I thought I heard now though that the Onan is the standard generator offered.

Noise level of a generator is subjective. Everyone has a different tolerance for noise.

I have an Onan and I wouldn't call it quiet. Our Honda 3000 is quiet. The Onan is in between the Honda and a regular 3000-4000 generator... Champion etc.

I stayed with the Generac since the Onan cost more and the number of issues noted here with them. Also my brother had two Onans in 2 RVs and had problems with both. My family has several Generac house emergency generators all have performed flawlessly for years. I don't think Generacs are available on Sunseekers or any other RV since I believe Generac no longer makes RV units.

I have a Generac on my Sunseeker 2009 2860ds and it works just fine. Had Onans in the past that also worked good.

Loud, depends which end you are on. If you park between 2 reefers at the flying J', whisper quite.

I thought my Onan was loud. I parked in a rest area (generator running) with a few 18 wheelers with their generators running. coming back from the building I listened carefully as I approached. My generator was no louder than theirs.

I am new to a Class C and built-in generator and am fairly pleased with it. It is not as loud as I expected. It isn't nearly as quite as a Honda generator, but I can talk on my phone just a few steps from the generator and the party on the other end barely hears it.

Adding the available extend exhaust which you attach to the gen exhaust pipe and it goes up ward will tend to shove the noise up where it makes the sound quieter. The down side is it needs to be removed every time you pack up to travel but its pretty easy to do. Later RJD

the upside to the exhaust pipe is that you do not die due to carbon monoxide. I forgot my extension 3 weeks ago and wind was blowing just enough to blow exhaust fums under camper and could not run gen with out the alarm going off.

I've never had this problem with my Generac generator but I hear this same story all too often with other models. Since they're similar you might as well contact a couple great electrical contractors with your product maintenance, repair, and warranty questions, so you can see if making adjustments to your current generator is worth it or if you should just invest in something else.
