Magnadyne G P S Problems

On my 2013 3050s everytime i go to use the gps i get an error code. I reset the unit and it works fine. I would like to update the unit, but the manual only uses windows. My computer is a mac, have contacted the company by e-mail with no response . Has anyone else had this problem and how was it solved. Keep on camping

I hate the Magnadyne. Hate it.

For GPS we use instead a Verizon-powered iPad with a RAM holder that sits in a cup holder. Is awesome.

Magnadyne- one suggestion I may make for newer models....possible angle or in a position to be able to see the screen from the drivers seat without having to move. I do not know if it is because I am 5'2" and the seat is up closer but it would be nice if it could be on something that could be angled. I bought a Garmin RV one to use in place of. Now need to find a cup holder mount that will hold the 7" screen! Like the other function of the product except for the GPS

To update the Magnadyne, I believe you have to pull the card from the back. My dealer tells me this can only be done by removing the Magnadyne from the dash using a specific key. I just drove 9000 miles in my Sunseeker and the GPS unit failed or crashed regularly either by giving an error message and needing a reset or by shutting itself off and back on. This seemed to happen even more so if the radio station lost it's signal and searched for another. After being left in the middle of an unfamiliar city with a GPS that just shut itself off, I ended up using a hand held Garmin model that I could rely on.

magnadyne

i will call this week on the radio, we seem to have a lot of comments on this radio. i have learned to bring an extra gps device since getting stuck in a major city with an other gps that failed,on the wrong side of the city. police helped me out with a nice ticket for being on a street with a weigh limit

1. Terrie, the angle of the display is more dictated by the Ford dash than Forest River.

2. Puzzlme: it depends. On the early models, there was a USB dongle in the back that held the SD card. On new models the GPS SD card is already in the front SD slot. Makes it a lot easier to update. No more removing the dash radio. If you do need to remove it, its just (2) U-shape removal tools on the Sunseeker. The Solera requires the dash trim to be removed.

My GPS is having the same problem since I upgraded the POIs for 2014. Talked to Mark this morning and he said that Naviextras does all the software development for Magnadyne and to contact them. It seems that the Toolbox updates also force a new operating system when you purchase new POIs or hookup the GPS micro disk to the Toolbox software. Your GPS micro disk has a log text file that documents all crashes that happen with the radio GPS and you can download it to read or send to Naviextras for troubleshooting purposes. My GPS works fine with the old backup version but when I upgrade to the new operating system it stops working. Probably a simple fix for Naviextras since my GPS crash log shows the problem to be over stacking of the MC4-LCD internal memory. I will know more when Naviextras investigates using all the files I sent them this morning. My micro disk has 1.7 GB open so I can't see the problem being the card but who knows!

I found that whenever the radio did something like scanning for new stations, or the ipod would come on, the navigation switched to radio or ipod--giving the appearance that it had crashed. Restarting navigation (pushing power button to change to navigation screen) would have navigation pick up where it left off, so it hadn't really crashed. Solution was to turn off auto scan for radio stations, or wake up ipod immediately at radio startup, so it didn't do it a half hour later.

I did initially have a software problem that also caused crashes and it was fixed with a software update from Magnadyne back in 2012. Have not had that issue since.

Haven't run the update yet. Hopeful that it will fix the issue.
Thanks

New CE Windows operating system update caused mine to crash! I am working with Naviextras (Europe Div) to solve the problem. Older backups work fine but new update doesn't work. I have sent a bunch of files to include the crash long from both my computer and the micro sd card folder files. Hopefully they have a solution in the near future!

Installed new OS updates and maps today. When initializing the first time the system was slow to respond. Used the reset button to get it going and all is well.

ourflat, I'll be taking it out next week and see how it does. Will let you know what happens. The last time I updated, did exactly the same as this time. Used the reset and then it worked fine. Hope I don't have other issues.

Mike, do you have the radio with the micro sd that loads in the front or in the back?

Mike,

You might be okay. Problem seems to be with older radios that load from the back!
