Manually Closing Living/Dinette Slid

After removing the hitch pin is this the correct bolt to turn to close the slide?

You probably don't need to remove the pin. Just get the proper size socket and go to it.
Same type of set up on our Lexington. I carry a 1/2 inch drive with the proper socket (can't think of the size right now) just for the chance I might need it.
Pin is there to prevent the inside assembly from pulling through the floor should the motor/gearbox/frame assembly comes loose. It won't pull the manual bolt up thru the floor.

Yes, that is what mine looks like too. I did not remove pin for my test run on it.

I forgot to say this is on a 2017 3010DS.
I would think they would be the same.
Thanks for the responses.

Mine is a sunseeker 2013 2650s. I was surprised at how easy the slide moved using this bolt.

One of my favorite RV bloggers had a slideout issue a couple of years ago and he posted interesting blog and video. He has a different c class but many of his blog entries are pretty interesting and relevant.

It’s located in the long compartment (under the slide) on the drivers side.

Did you close your slide all the way in on your test run?
Also, could using this method damage the slide motor?

No, it does not damage the motor. It is there for that purpose. Do NOT remove the pin, that is how the fitting drives the shaft. I think it requires a 3/4 inch socket. You may already have a manual crank for the tongue jack that will fit it.

I have a 2015 2861DS. I saw that bolt inside one of the compartments on the driver side.

Questions:
1. Is there a release lever anywhere that we need to release before cranking the slide IN/OUT?
2. Which direction to SLIDE IN and OUT? (Clockwise vs. Counter Clockwise)?
3. How about the BEDROOM slide out? Where is the manual crank located?

Thanks

Mine was closed when I started. I moved it about a foot and moved it back closed. It was obvious when it closed because of the pressure to turn the bolt.

Rotating an electric motor should not harm it.

The biggest danger would be trying to move a jammed slide and cranking too hard on the bolt. This could damage the gears in the slide mechanism or perhaps the entire mechanism. I would say that if the bolt rotates easy and the slide moves easily, you should be fine.

I would stay away from using a drill to rotate the bolt... unless to set the clutch down low so that it would disengage if got difficult to rotate.

1. The bolt is actually attached to the mechanism... no release mechanism.

2. If you can safely watch the bolt while the slide moves, then you will know. Otherwise try it. It should turn easily.

3. Does the bedroom slide extend to the floor? If yes and there are gear strips underneath the slide then the motor is mounted somewhere underneat the slide. If not the look at slide when it is extended. If there is a gear strip on the side of the slideout near the top then the motor is mounted near the top and needs to accessed using different method.

Lots of talk here and need to stress the following... If the slide is damaged or out of alignment, do not crank on the manual override and damage it too. If the manual override turns easy and the slide moves easy... then okay.
