New Motor Home Tires Class C

Have a 3010DS. It came with the Michelins on it, They are aprox 5 years old.
They show a lot of dry rot. Now trying to decide on , another set of Michelins, Have used the Firestone Transforce on that last class C we had and they proved to be very good.
What about the Hancook tire, See that Ford is putting them on the E450 from the factory, Any one have any experiecnce with the Hancooks.

I have the Hankooks but have not driven on anything but dry flat roads. I would estimate by the ratings they got in TireRack that they are OK but do not measure up to Michelin quality. If they offer no confidence in wet, they will be gone in a flash. TBD

Have a friend with a class C that bought Continental tires because the load rating was higher.

On my old class C I ran Hankook tires on it and they performed very well in both wet and dry conditions .

I have Hankooks on our Ford Transit based motor home and on my F-150. When it is time for new tires they won't be Hankooks. They just do not "feel" as good as the Michelins I've previously used. The Hankooks on my F-150 break traction way too easy, I feel like a 16 year old doing burnouts at times...

Was just trying to get info on other tires, Thanks for the input. Think im just going to stick with what it had and go with the Michelins.

New units seem to be coming w/ General Tire Grabbers, from what I can remember seeing on the lots recently.

There has been a recall on Michellins for dry rotting

Worth checking into. I ended up with a new set several years ago for this very reason.

Recommend to go with the heaviest load rating you can get. Most tires put on RV's at the factory do not take into consideration what we load into an RV (other than ourselves).

I would only put Michelins on an RV I was planning to park in a salvage yard.

The Michelin RV rated tires I had on my previous motor home were bad from the factory, as were many Michelin RV rated tires at that time. Read lots of reviews and others were having the same issues.

Michelin may have corrected their issues, but they would not admit to bad tires at the time.

Due to three out of 6 NEW Michelin tires blowing sidewalls in 12 months, I'll never buy Michelin again. Ever.

Michelin Defender LTX X2

Smooth riding and never use any other tires including on my cars. I don't think that you can beat them.

Any on know the difference between the LTX M/S and the LTX M/S2 ??
Or have used the M/S 2 ?

I can't speak to travel trailers but as far as motorhomes are concerned, they have to put tires on the rig that match the axle capacity of the rig. So you'll typically see Load 'E' tires on the Chevy/Ford chassis models. The OEM tires are good up to the max axle weights, though admittedlly right up at max PSI depending on the length/weight of the coach.

My 32' Greyhawk was Load 'E' 75 front, 80 rear. My soon to be 25' Forester is 65 front, 80 rear.

Load E tires max out at 80psi.

When I talked with Michelin about my M/S
LTX wearing down 4/32 in less than 4,000
Miles also had cupping on front and rear
And I had the forest river suggested alignment ( I went with Henderson Line up specs ) he told me the M/S ltx is not the best fit for motorhome application . He said
The side walls are soft and they will get fold over issues . He advised me strongly to proceed to the defender LTX .

From what i have found. The Defender LTX M/S is what replaced the Regular LTX M/S

I have LTX M/S2's on my 32 foot Sunseeker with about 25K miles, and they're ready to be replaced. The rears wore evenly (which I would expect), but the fronts did something weird...the treadblocks on either side of the center rib are OK, but the center rib and outboard treadblocks all got very choppy. Alignment is good and the wear is even across the whole tire, just weird. I rotated them to the back to try and get some more life out to them, but the rumble is noticeable enough that I'll be replacing all six before we make the trek from NJ to Disney for Spring Break.

Will go for either the Defender LTX (hopefully this re-design takes care of that "weird" wear I experienced) or Firestone Transforce HT...had a set of those on my last C-class and was very happy them.
