Propane units eat a LOT of propane.
I hope my next unit has an EFI genny...probably will. Carbs are so...50's...

Teaman here. ................ Thanks for all the tips. I think some are paying off. Maybe I am almost there. Got to the store the other day, picked up some Stabil and a dose of Red Heet. Put half of Stabil into MH tank and the bottle of Heet. Waited five hours and started the Onan. Cranked right off and ran smoothly. I let it run on partial load for 30 minutes - smooth as silk. Then I switched on the A/C unit. The Gen picked up the load just fine. Hot Dog!!! I started counting my chickens.

After about 15 minutes, the Gen starts chug-a-lugging and I quickly shut the Gen down. Didn't want to damage the A/C. But that was an improvement. Now someone on the thread stated that perhaps the choke or linkage was sticking. So today I give the old Carb a good shower of WD40 and waited a couple hours. The Gen cranked right off and ran smoothly. I let it warm up then switched on light load. The Gen ran smoothly for 45 minutes or so. So far so good. Am almost there I think.
Then I switched on the A/C. The Gen picked up the load just fine - you could hear it pick up the load. Ran fine for maybe 20 minutes or so. I was thinking 'Home Free'. But not quite yet. Suddenly Chug-a-lugging starts and I quickly shut it down.

But folks, I think we are almost there. Tomorrow, I think I'll use an electric space heater for the load. Might be some kind of weird feedback between the A/C and the carb. linkage (need more WD40 maybe)

PS. The Gen only has 24 hours on it. The whole motor home only just turned 8000 miles. Trying to get her where I can put some more on it this year.

FWIW, it sounds like you are having a fuel starvation issue. The load uses more fuel and it slowly runs out. My guess is either you have a partial clog or you will need to get familiar with one of these: (YMMV)

Had ours replaced last year !!!
Ours was so bad genny would not even start !!!

We had to have our fuel pump replaced twice. Once at 31 hours and again at 135 hours. The first pump was part of a bad batch of pumps they were using, the 2nd one is a new design. it now has 254 hours on it and no problems.
Onan had told me about the pumps and the problem they were having with them.

I ask the ONAN service center to check our pump to see if it were on the recall list,,,
No luck !!! Our pump had about 7 or 8 hours on it !!!
Pump & Carb are both a POC !!!

Did a search and found many who had symptoms exactly like mine. Will certainly look into that angle. I need to do a bit of trouble shooting. You know, its always much harder to find a fault when there are several problems affecting you. Bad gas (old gas), gummy residue, water, sticky linkage, etc, and then a flakey fuel pump.

Perhaps I've been making a bad assumption that 'almost new = good'. Seems there are a bad batch of fuel pumps out there.
