New owner Sunseeker 2440DS

Just for information, we took delivery of our 2020 Sunseeker 2440DS and after a check out at the house we went to Nevada. I was very happy with the Ford V10's performance climbing the hills. Knock on wood, all systems function perfectly. We had no surprises. I know in the future perhaps there will be issues but for now, I have to say Forest River makes a great product. The Rv site was at a casino and very nice. The last day was a little less perfect since some parents leave their kids to run amuck late at night while they are at the casinos. But that's a different issue I have with some of today's parents. Lastly, the only negative was while driving home there was a tight construction area and with me and a big rig side by side, I clipped a cone. Fortunately, no house damage but the generator exhaust was bent. Can't straighten it since it's crimped at the bend and will restrict flow. I hope I can order a replacement. Looks like I can do the work myself.

Do in inspection of the attachement point where the exhaust pipe bolts to the head and make sure nothing is cracked.

I had a similar experience experience with a truck in a construction zone, he hit an uneven spot in the road and the trailer hit the drivers side mirror on our Sunseeker 2300. Fortunately the mirror was the only thing damaged and a bit of duct tape got us back on the road.

It’s good to hear that your new 2440DS was delivered in good shape. We have one on order and we’re expecting it sometime this month. I hope our experience is as good as yours, except for the cone thing.

Coming from a motorhome with a full time 60x80 residential mattress queen bed, we are a bit concerned about the split, short queen mattress in the new 2440. Did you find the bed setup convenient, and was the mattress comfortable? Did the split in the mattress causing any comfort problems?

The mattress is very comfortable for us. The split was not an issue for sleeping. It does take a little bit of a process to make it and then keep it made when it slides in. All in all satisfied. As a side note prior to cutting the exhaust pipe for a temporary fix, I bend it back expecting to see a kink restricting the flow. Well, I bend it back and it went to perfect shape. No restriction. No need to replace it. Very happy. We are off on our third trip. Enjoy your new rig.

This sounds exactly what happened to me on my shakedown cruise with my new 2020 Sunseeker this past week. The generator exhaust clipped a cone, bent the pipe, looks like it caused a restriction in the 90 degree bend, and tore the hanger in half.

Tried to see if there was a part number on the pipe but short of taking it off, there was none. It looks like a Forest River part, not an original Onan part as none of the OEM Onan pipes have that exact shape.

Contacted the dealer, but haven't heard back, were you able to get a replacement?

Thanks,

Neil
