Now looking at a sunseeker 2300 instead of a forester 2300.

After driving a forester and telling the dealer that they would need to align the front end, put gas in ( to test the generator) and put the propane tank back in with propane ( make sure no leaks and works), they said ok. It has been a week as of today, haven't heard anything. That being said.... I started looking at sunseeker. I like that it doesn't have the IPad to control all of your electronics, has the raised wood panels and a much cheaper price. I told my husband of we can save $9000.00 it is worth it. From what I have read...there isn't to much difference in the build. So for all of you sunseeker owners, would you agree that they are just as good as a forester?

We have a 2015 3010DS and have looked at a simular forester when we were looking to buy back in 2014. We could not justify the $5000 difference for what seemed to us were more cosmetic upgrades in the forester. To this day we are happy with our decision to buy our Sunseeker. The money we saved helped us get our jeep set up for being a toad.

We enjoy our Sunseeker. In 2014, there was not much difference. Same furniture, same appliances, same layout etc. The Forester had flush mount LED lighting (what about insulation above the lights) with extra storage nets, nice paint, same mattress, etc. I changed to LED, added the storage nets and for the price difference, white is now my favorite color. We are very happy with our decision.

In 2015 we ordered our sunseeker for $7k less than closest Forester with better options on the sunseeker than the dealers had on the Forester. RVW had the Forester with its options for $2-3k more so for us it was a no brainer , rest assured your going to be spending a good amount outfitting your rv

We bought a Sunseeker in 2016, not much difference between it and the Forester, saved $8000, and got the outside TV and 4 door refrigerator.

The Sunseekers and Foresters are built on the same line and are only different in trim, finish and a few "upgrades"'. The Forester is a more upscale unit.

Here are the differences that Joshua Cavitt, a FR rep, posted in this thread, see post #17:

Forester VS Sunseeker

  • Glass Covered LED lighting VS Push Button LED lighting
  • Solid Surface Coutner tops VS pressed Counter tops
  • Hidden Hinges VS Visible Hinges
  • Cedar Backed Closets VS Décor Board
  • Standard Skirt Paint VS White Fiberglass with graphics
  • Fiberglass Running Boards (Standard) VS Aluminum running boards
  • LED floor lighting
  • Forester has an upgraded Maxx Air fann
  • Soft Touch Vinyl Ceilings VS Hard Touch

I just don't see spending several thousand dollars more for those frills...

I agree. To me those little extras aren't worth the extra thousands. Thank you for the information.

Difference in SS vrs Forester

We have a 2016 and choose the Sunseeker for the additional storage vrs the additional bed on the overhang
As far as some of the extra mentioned by the group / Maybe different for others but we have many of the features that folks pay for extra with the Forrester
????
Love the unit / care free / We have the MBS and very happy with 16 to 18 MPG
Good lick and keep us posted

Has anyone bought the extended warranty for 6yrs or 66thousand miles. It's 2952.00 then $100. Deductible each time it's needed.

We just did a week on the coast in our 2300. For extended warr we went with extra ride and have claimed against it without an issue (air cond ate a comtrol board). We use a RV shop who is not a dealer and is focused on after market work. We ordered our 2300 sunsk and spent the difference on the heat pump, jacks, and satt (heard FR does not offer factory satt anymore).

We did our own led lights from amazon for about $50 for all of the bulbs (and replacement cost is lower per lamp unit, and I can put in a standard bulb if pushed to so). The item I really did not want was the soft ceiling in the forester that if I was to scratch the ceiling with something like a fishing pole that needed the reel looked at while the nascar race was on, and it was raining so I could possibly stay inside, I can touch it up and you will never find it. SO if that ever was to occur I am covered and DW may never know....

Also I like alum running boards cheaper to replace and repair...

What ever you get please put some type of vent coverd on (max air cover as an example). If a factory one cracks, and they will from the uv, it will occur when you least prepped to deal with it.

Take a look at my pic for the mods....
