You are correct. We only watch DVDs or off-air (antenna). Don't really need surround sound for the TV news, etc., so I didn't care that we lost that capability. To avoid that problem, you would have to run a cable all the way back to the dash. It could be done--just didn't seem necessary to me when I had a perfectly good cable at the TV that I wasn't using.
