Outside speaker how to access

I found out one of the outside speaker is not working in our coach. Checked the wires in the headunit and it’s fine. Trying to access the outside cover, there are 2 tabs/slots on one corner but cant figure out how to open it, and dont want to break it. Any help?

Can you post a picture so that we can see what you are working with? Make and model of camper would be helpful too.

The solara awning speakers (I should say poor excuse for speakers) can be accesed by removing the back cover of the speaker/motor housing. There are 5 screws in recessed holes on the back side.

Looking again it appears they may have changed the design a bit from what I have disassembled.

Yes and get on a ladder above the housing.

Got the cover out and it seems wires are intact but still no sound coming out. The outside speakers are connected to B and only the Left is working. Any other idea what to check? Cant see behind the wall to check the wires.

Did you put a meter on the wires at the speaker to see if you had power there?

The wires are most likely spliced where they enter the coach. Slices will be stuffed inside the hole that the wire feed through. You will find a plastic cover that runs the length of the arm section that is attached to the coach. most likely near the bottom of the arm.
The plastic cover can be removed probably held in with sealant/RTV.

The speakers in my solera awning (Forester) have right/left adjustment in the audio settings. Have you checked to make sure it's not just turned off?

It is on, inside speakers works left/right, outside only the left works. Havent had a chance to trace the wires yet.

I would pull the stereo head and swap the channels of the outside speaker wires just to check if the speaker that is now not working still works.

If it does, then it is probably the stereo that is bad.

Stereo is fine, checked the wires all good, checked the right outside speaker and no sound coming out using another speaker, so its the wires between stereo and speaker and cant trace the wires easily.

That is why I suggested pulling the stereo...chances are the wiring problem is there.

Did you try swapping both outside speaker wires right to left at the back of the stereo to see what happens?

Not outside at the speakers...

I'm a sound guy (been a mobile DJ since 1980)...and that would be the first thing I would check before anything else when a speaker drops.

I used a spare speaker to test all channels and everything works, test the outside speaker with the same spare speaker and no sound, so its the wires between the stereo and speaker but it wasn’t easily accessible

Outside speaker how to access

We have had this same problem. When the arms bend while putting the Solera awning in and out , the wire gets kinked sometimes. I have multiple times just had to jiggle the wire around and I’ve gotten the sound to come back on. It’s happened to the speakers on.both sides
