I've had a TRC SurgeGuard for eight years of 320 plus days per year camping and its never let me down and has saved our trailer several times.

I've used the TRC 30 amp and 50 amp with no problems. Others swear by the Progressive industries because it has a lifetime warranty and cost a bit more.

Mine lasted 7 months and they would not honor the year warranty.

Bought it the day we picked up the FW, I use it here at home because we have power outages it has worked well and earned it's keep IMO.

The last two numbers on it denote it is 30 amp

We went with the Progressive Industries EMS-PT30C. More that just a surge protector but an electrical management system and it has a limited lifetime warranty. Search the web and you will find it for less. We got ours at Tweetys years ago.

I have used both the Progressive Industries and the TRC. Both are good. One time I was plugged into a friend's house (this friend had a special RV hookup installed for me) and I foolishly ran the water heater AND the A/C both on electric. I was using the Progressive Industries Surge Protector. OOPS! Running BOTH those appliances exceeded the 30 amp load, and I fried the surge protector, fried the cord, but his plug in is still good! (it was 100 degrees out that day) Let's just say, this surge protector saved a friendship.

I purchased on of these. It works! Using a defective generator it would not work due to over voltage. Bought at Goshen Rally for $150.00.

This seems to be a recurring post.....seems like a necessity. two noob questions......30 or 50 amp? Is that driven by coach inverter? I see locks on these in almost all pictures.....I guess folks steal them?

If you go with a hardwired and have a 30 amp trailer you can go with a 50 amp hardwired.
It's not been said if you can use a 50 amp portable "with 30 amp adapter" can be used.

anyone have any insight on this one? I picked it up but haven't used it yet. I got it because it had the tester lights that told me how the outlet was wired (much like my 120 tester does). I figured it was better than nothing. Time will tell.
