Get a quote from RvDirect.com. They beat the dealer price by $8000 and the MSRP by $32,000 on ours.

Did you find dealers that would provide warranty service?

Mine listed at $98.5K and I ordered it for $67K at a local dealer, not a wholesaler. You are nearing the end of the model year since the 2015s will be out in about 4 months so you should be able to deal. There is a large dealer makeup on RVs, 35 to 40%, much larger than new cars so a good price is in the 30% range off of list. If you do not plan to do your own maintenance and service, a local nearby dealer is worth something to save aggravation and time. You have to decide how much.

I really wish we wouldn't do this. There are so many variables involved...which I think I've mentioned on other posts. There should be some standard default text when trying to list pricing. Ford or Chevy/options/freight/trade/no trade (to summarize).

$50,000 is what you should target with NO TRADE and YOUR OWN FINANCING.
You add a trade and you will be paying a LOT more, one way or another.

$40,000 should be the target price. As long as they're laughing, might as well make it a full hearted belly laugh and not just a chuckle.

Agree that there is many variables in pricing of units, but then again if FR and other RV manfactures would have a MSRP that was not marked up 25 to 30% or more then dealers would be selling the units at the same price across the nation plus the variables. One major hurdle that the RV manfactures need to work on is a standards for repair, training of technicians and prompt repairs.

And what would you recommend? What would a fair price be to carry millions of dollars of inventory for your viewing pleasure with nowhere close to the sales volume of automobiles. And to cover the unrealistic value of trade in vehicles (when included)?
I agree that there should be a better training program for reps.
However, as I have tried to mention before, we often want to compare the RV industry with the auto industry. (High volume, low margins, heavily regulated) and not compare it to the housing industry (lower volume, higher mark up, more variables, more laborers as opposed to skilled workers).
In the end, the comparison should be somewhere in between.

FR could set up a service program so they dealers could qualify as a "FR Authorized Service Center" with standards to include a in house training program, dealers would honor warrenty repairs, reguardless of where purchased, FR would set up factory training for technicians, FR would have Hot Line to work with dealers and customers on service, some type of warrenty on repairs made, example 90 days. To earn the "FR Authorized Service Center" the dealer needs to stand up and be accountble to standards and FR has to have the guts to pull the authorization for dealers not meeting required standards. They could set up the program to list models that a dealer qualifies for, example a dealer could be a TT/5th wheel authorized repair center and not a motorhome repair center.

Sounds good, but logistically not as simple. It's not just us, but the dealer as well. Unlike Ford/Chevy that carries one brand. Dealership would need to do this for potentially 10+ mfg.'s with multiple lines.
Again, this would parallel the auto industry. We need to find a happy medium that works in between. We do require a dealership to have certified techs to even be a service center. I think the ongoing certification is what may lack at times. Verifying they are still there after xx years.

Forest river will only provide you with the names of those who are authorized to work on your Rv, its up to you to find one that will service it. Since FR only responsibility is to provide service at its facility or pay for authorized work off site, they will not find a place for you. Make sure that the savings you are getting make up for local service, I assure you that if you buy from a national dealer and want local service you will be at the back of the line, if at all. Rv dealers are not required to service the brands that they carry, service is provided as a perk for their customers.

So, here's the thing.
I have had much better luck working UP from an unrealistically LOW price; than working down from a ridiculously HIGH price.

I must be the oddball. I researched my unit, checked prices and bought it. I know the price ranges and know everyone still needs to make money. I have no desire to "beat down" anyone selling a product made in the USA. My fellow workers need to make a living. I found 30% off of list was the going rate. No negotiations needed.
