Problem with rear storage on 3010ds

I had too much weight in my drivers side storage compartment and the screws in the plastic pulled away from the frame along the bottom side if the Coach.

It also deformed the plastic about 1.5 inches in the middle. So I'm clamping, gluing and adding addition screws this weekend while camping.

I was wondering, has anyone added any extra support under the plastic to help with the weight.

I had my tool box, air compressor and some other stuff on this side.

I will put the tools and air compressor in the back of the jeep from now on.

Any advice is appreciated!

My gosh we discovered the exact same problem this weekend in our 3011 Forester !! Looks like you did the same thing my DH did. He jacked up the plastic under a bit. Took out loose screws. Reglued
the plastic film to the side. Put clamps on and put new screws in. We are worried that the screws won't hold long in the partical board. We be checking your post.

IMHO place as much weight forward as you can, at
least in the middle of the rig.

How big (heavy) was your tool box?

Yes. Appears to be particleboard that that the screws screw into. I'm sure Mike RP can confirm this since he worked on the same area.

Yes looks like particle board, so the screws pulled right out of it. I added a bunch more plus used gorilla glue. Seems to be progressing well. I will be done when we leave in the morning.

The tool box is one of those craftsmen plastic boxes with all the sockets. Pretty heavy. Plus my air compressor, tote tool carry box and a basket that weighed probably 50lbs.

I just never thought of it pulling apart. Tools go in the jeep from now on!

I know!! We carried a little firewood to in that spot. Ours is the same area as yours I believe. Drivers side last storage compartment to the rear. This is also the only compartment that had black sealant around where the plastic meets the side. Makes you wonder about that. We are leaving the end of the week for a month long trip or we would have it at the dealer doing warranty work.

Just looked at mine and it is coming apart. How are all the other bins holding together? I put my tools in the one by the generator I need to look at that in the morning before we head home.

Fozzy we checked all other storage compartments they all look fine. Is your problem in the same area as ours?
