Question on SiriusXM

Just picked up my 3010 last week and saw in the lower corner of the radio SiriusXM. The booklet says one of the icons on the radio will be SiriusXM but mine does not so I'm assuming I cannot get it. Any help would be appreciated.

Most FR motorhomes don't come with the Sirius/XM module installed, you have to get that along with a small antenna that you can run up and place on top of one of the front fenders. Of course, then you need a subscription.

Is your radio a Magnadyne? If so, I recently upgraded the navigation maps and satellite tuner to my radio. The tuner can be purchased at Best Buy for just under $50.00 and can be installed in about an hour. The biggest benefit to my upgrades was the POI maps. They really improve the capability of the navigation of the radio.

Purchase the add on module. Then go into setup on the Magnadyne to make the icon visible for XM radio. FR or Magnadyne don't put the icon on the screen since you need the module to activate it.

I attached the manual for the radio for you review. Basicaly, you pull the radio out of the dash to gain access to a pigtail card reader device attached to the radio. Remove the SD Card from the device and insert it into your computer's card reader. If you don't have one on your computer but have a USB connection then you can purchase a USB SD Card Reader from Best Buy or your local Walgreens for under $20.00. Next, download the free software from:

https://www.naviextras.com/shop/portal/downloads

This software will allow you to update the SD Card you removed from the radio, using your computer's SD Card Reader to update the POI Navigation software in the Magnadyne radio. The attached manual will take you through these steps. I updated all my maps to include activating the 3D option for about $80.00.

We spent months trying to figure this out LOL. Our radio reception was spotty at best and then would die on a bump. So we pulled it and found that we didn't have the Sirius receptor. Oh and we tightened the radio connection!

Updating and maintenance on this radio is a little more than most want to tackle on their own. The head set has some nice features except not allowing us to update it without pulling the head set out to gain access to the SD card.

Just went through this process today. All I can say is "wow". I think the thought process behind this unit overall is great, but in practice, it's a little lackluster. But I know FR had to find something that balanced out all the needs and wants, yet was still affordable. I've pretty much reduced the use of this unit to playing DVD's for the kids and I bought an RV GPS (Rand McNally) for real navigation.
