range hood flap

just picked up our 2400ws. Does anyone know how to open the the flap for the range hood vent? I've pushed up and pulled down on what appears to be the locks but the flap will not open, afraid if I apply too much pressure either way I'll break something.

Very very hard to open. I use a small flat blade screw driver and pull at the same time. I hate the design. It shouldn't be that hard.

The flaps on ours open by pulling towards the outside, not down.

Some of them have small levers in each lower corner that turn over the flap to keep it form opening while traveling. If yours have them, just turn them so they do not hold flap in place. Then it snaps open and closed.

If yours is like mine I have the two lever locks on the bottom corners. Mine was stuck also and was catching on the right bottom corner circle of plastic surrounding the locking lever. Put a screwdriver under each corner and gently pry it open. I had to snip off a small piece of the flap on that right hand bottom corner with my tin snips for it to move freely.

My brother just picked up a new 29RKWS on Friday and the little release tabs on his had something on them that looked like adhesive or caulking.

It didn't seem as though it squeezed out from under the frame during installation.
It was almost like they glued them shut during transport.

We were able to get a screwdriver under the tabs and loosen them.
Once opened he cleaned the glue/adhesive from the tab area and they work as described in the link posed above.

Mine is painted shut so I did it from the inside. I didn't want to scratch it. I removed the aluminum intake filter from the vent hood and popped the door open using a large flat blade screwdriver.

Put your thumbs on the bottom of the tabs and push outward.

Yep...those are the tabs I referred to above that were glued shut.
No way would they come loose pushing on them with your thumb.
Had to use a screwdriver to initially break them loose.
