Most have small tabs outside. That you have to turn to let the vent open.

Pull the tabs down. They are very stiff. The cover will "pop" open. Having had covers with the little tabs that you turn aside, these are much better, but a little harder to use.

Have a look at this FAQ
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...fix-15553.html

The middle photo shows the tabs in the open position. It also shows the
outer cover raised but you don't want to do that! Just turn the tabs as shown
in the middle photo.

Remember to carefully and gently put the tabs back over the corners of
the flap when traveling or you will wind up with a broken and possibly
missing flap one day.

Welcome to the forum and Happy Camping!!

There are (2) types of vents common on RV's. The one with (2) pivoting tabs (shown in the link listed above). It has 2 small (delicate) tabs that swivel out of the way and the flap is allowed to open. We switched about a year or two ago to the Endura vent. For this vent you pull down on the tabs (its more of a clip type set up). It is UV stable (so no yellowing) and the tabs are a little more durable....although they can be a bit tough to open the first few times.
