Range vent on 2013 3010DS

We just picked up our 3010DS and really like it. The thing is the person that gave us the demo missed going over on how to open the outside vent to the range fan. I don't want to force the 2 clips that keep the vent closed. If anybody could help me out with this I would appreciate it.

They are hard to open, once I decided that "one way or the other, I am going to open these", I got them open and have never closed them again. So far, we've towed over 2,000 miles and the vent door is still there. These vents are different from the older ones that would break if left open while towing.

push them up to release...seems counter intuitive...at least for me.
