Rear camera at night

2013 sunseeker. When leaving the rear camera on at night, the image is very washed out. I thought it was better before so maybe I messed up some setting. Although I looked and everything is basically on factory defaults. It's perfectly fine during the day. Do others have this problem?

Not great at night. If it used to be better, try cleaning the cameras lens. Mine seems to attract dirt - affects it more at night.

Seems like it's a common problem with RV systems. Although I don't have my new coach yet, I can tell you that this problem existed in my last 3 coaches.

Seems like the manufacturers do not use day/night vision cameras. As a result, the camera cannot really adjust to the darkness. Then, when another vehicle's headlamps shine, the camera goes all crazy trying to adjust to a bright light against a black background.

This must be a "cost" issue. In my 2014 Ford Fusion, the rear view camera shows a clear picture at night. It does get a little confused if a headlight is shining on it, but in general I have a clear, bright picture at night. So the technology is there, but maybe the coach manufacturers use a cheaper type of camera system.

I have the same issue. Adding some additional back up lighting improved, but didn't totally fix, the issue. I think a couple more LED lights under the rear bumper, aligned straight out and parallel to the ground, may help. All the lighting I have now is located fairly high up and has very broad coverage...

Replacing my back up lights with LEDs (as well as my tail lights) made it very easy to see with the camera.

LOVE your LED lights! Where'd you get them and if you don't me mind asking, what are they worth? I'm looking to replace my crappy incandescent lights and also wanted back up light capacity....

I have LED lights all around and that is not the solution. I agree that the camera works well in daylight but is clouded at night. Also, the rear LED running and brake lights appear to further wash out the image at night.

Our backup camera is crystal clear at night, I just wish it would show up that clear during the day. At night it looks like a television set turned on, but during the day we have a hard time seeing the picture.

I like them also...Hope they post where they picked them up.

See Here for the Bargman lights you'll need. They have kits for all the tail lights not just the Reverse lights. EBay, Amazon and a bunch of other places will have them...

On some nights my cameras get foggy, I think it is moister on the lens, also they do get dirty, and that makes them look foggy.

Mine does the same when I leave it on at night, particularly on the sides. The "night vision" is possible because there are infrared bulbs inside the enclosure on either side of the camera. The "washed out" areas on either side of the monitor are glare from the IR light being reflected back at the camera lens from the inside a the dirty enclosure. Usually when I stop for gas, I grab some glass cleaner and a paper towel and clean the enclosure while I'm waiting for the tank to fill. If you stand on the rear bumper, you can reach the camera....

I have three, one on each side up in front and one in the back above the garage door. They are all over 12 feet up, need a latter to clean them.
