repairing roof caulking

I have a small crack in the caulking on the roof of my 2013 Sunseeker 3170. I bought the unit used about 6 months ago, and was told all the caulking had been redone. It does look good everywhere else, so I am hoping to just repair the one crack. I found a couple of sites that say to use "Dicor Self Levling Lap Sealant", and just put a little in the crack and smooth it out. Since most RV's don't have the fiberglass roof, I was wondering if the same goes for the Sunseekers.

On the Sunseekers, yes, Dicor 501 self leveling lap sealant is fine. Clean the old, apply the new and you should be in good shape.

An additional question on the same topic. Should you just clean the old caulk before applying fresh caulk, or would it be better to remove the old caulk and then reseal with new caulk?

I was told to take a rag with a little mineral spirits, on it but do not put the rag on the roof material, and wipe the old Dicor with it . Then let it dry before applying the new dicor. Do this when its warm out , just do a bead along the crack in the old chalk and it will spread on its own. I did this at the beginning of summer and checked it later and it held good and leveled out just as it was supposed to.

Thanks for the info. I am going to be cleaning the roof and inspecting everything before I close up for the season. I know when I inspected the roof, I was not happy with the appearance of the present caulk, and I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing to keep things water resistent as much as possible.
