Nope, once we went to two batteries standard, we never looked back.

Nope. Just hook them up in parallel (+ to + and - to -).

I feel ripped off then, mine only had the one battery!! ( which I have already replaced with better battery ) Like I said, not hard to install another if needed, right now I can use the extra weight space for other things

Did you actually lighten the beer load or just transfer it to a different container?

You don't HAVE to do anything BUT it will take longer to charge 2 batteries than one with the same charger. That is NOT a problem but if you want it to go faster with dual 12v batts...you should sized the charger at somewhere around 50 amps. Minimum charger size for dual 12V batts is around 20amps which is prolly less than you have now.

All of our units have a 60 amp converter. We don'r have a small converter for single battery and larger for 2 batteries. Same converter for everything.

Thanks everyone for your replies. One more question. Sealed or not sealed batteries?

Scoto...let's first get the language straight. There are WET cells and there are AGM's available in deep cycle configurations. Absorbed Glass Mat Batteries are 2-3x the price of wet cells and do not require watering. They also have many other good features that some need and are willing to pay the price for. They do NOT provide longer life..indeed they offer FEWER recharges but often work out lasting longer when compared to wet cells that have been murdered! LOL.

Wet cells come in 2 versions..those you fill with water...and those which contain an internal resevoir and vent system which makes them "maintenance free"....and cost about the same.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TRUE DEEP CYCLE MAINTENANCE FREE DESIGN.
If you see one advertised...you are looking at a dual use battery and a poor choice for your RV unless you do little or no boondocking.

If you don't need or want the spendiness of AGM's...I suggest true wet cells in a deep cycle design. Then, if you find filling the water to be a pain...you can get something like the pro-fill systems to make it easy.

Okay it sounds like the best way to go is 2 12 volt batteries. The existing battery is a 12 volt 27. I found a 12 volt 29 will that be compatible or do both have to be 27?

Both should be the same size and date of manufacturing. It 's not wise to mix size or age. Or at best close to the same age.

I agree. You are asking for trouble to not keep them the same in size and age. The bigger and better battery will be drawn down by the worst one.
