Rodents in my 3010DS

I was having a bit of a problem this fall with mice in my 3010DS. I thought I'd share what I found. These probably apply to any Sunseeker just the locations of the entry point may change.

1) Battery box has two opening to the outside. A vent hole that is unscreened,. I stuck a brillo pad in there to block and allow venting.
I also found incomplete foam sealing where wire pass through to the outside at the top of the battery box. I thought I had them with the brillo pad and was surprised to find they had set up camp, then saw that hole in the foam. While they can't get in the coach from there, leave then there long enough and you'll have a nasty smell coming from the battery box. By the way I had one of those rodent repell bags in there and he was very happy to use it for nesting material.

2) I have the double wide Dometic fridge and a mouse can and do easily get through the grill where to their right they find a nice passage way that leads to under the stove. I made pieces of screen and attached with foil tape from the inside of all these vents. Let see them squeeze through that.

3) There is a large hole that allows wires to pass through to the basement that is just behind the rear axle. The giveaway there is a huge glob of foam sitting in the frame rail. Then you look up and see the large hole where it fell from before it became foam.

I found other spots where the expanding foam job was no very good and I touched it up just to be sure. I had heard people on hte forum complaining about the expanded foam sealing that FR does. I was to lazy to crawl under until now. I reccomend doing it as part of the acceptance inspection.

I have a 2013 3010DS and had field mice problems the first winter. Most seem to make entry up through the area where the water filter and drains are, pretty much upend the whole right side behind the cabinets and stove. Filled gaps with steels wool and packed/dropped about a box of box of clothes dryer Bounce Sheets everywhere behind drawers, in drawers, bathroom, cabinets, etc. Haven't seen droppings in several months. Heard that mice don't like the smell. Also good to keep a small battery operated radio running.
