Roof vent problem

Has anybody had this problem? The crank up handle for the roof vent screws into a little box type thing the other side of the screen. The little box thing is separating (looks like a rivet holding it together separated) meaning the screw mechanism no longer works. Do I need to replace the entire roof vent or can I replace just the screw mechanism? If just the screw mechanism, is there a specific brand to get?

You can purchase them at most RV stores, amazon etc. Their pretty inexpensive and easy to change out.

Thanks! Are they generic or do I need a specific brand matching whatever is in the sunseeker now? Are they done from the roof or inside (after removing the screen of course)?

Drill the loose rivets out and just re-rivet or use a sheet metal screw. No need to replace it.

OP here. I found a similar part at the local Camping World for $12. It's a knob instead of a crank arm. I took what I had apart, didn't measure the pieces, but this looks close. The only thing I can't figure out is where the little aluminum shim thing (by the knob in the picture) goes.

Tensioner to keep knob from turning? Also ran Jensen and Elixir besides Ventline supply the vents

OP here. No luck. The new part was a little different size and won't work. Now to try to find the right size. I'll check the Internet for the other names you mentioned. I don't think a new rivet or sheet metal screw would work either (I tried clamping the mechanism tight and it still doesn't work right).

So remove it and see what is wrong with it.

The arm has a gearbox on one end and a "round thing like a wheel" on the other. The "wheel" goes through the slot (or track) on the lid and the shim thing clips onto the wheel to hold it in the track.

Inspect your lid while you are doing this repair. A new lid is under $20 and while you are doing all of this you might as well change the lid, as they do not last long in UV light.

I think CW carries all three makes. Otherwise you can try PPL in Texas, they have enormous stock/availability. Easiest to ID by the hinge design.
