Shoes...I know, Strange!

SO we're headed out for 4 weeks in our 3170. There are 6 of us traveling cross country. Each will have 2 pair sneakers/walking shoes, 1 pair flip flops/crocs, 1 pair rain boots.
Anyone have any great ideas where to store these? We'll keep the boots below. But that still leaves us with 18 pairs of footwear!
When everyone comes in the door they remove shoes (just like at home) and then we trip over them. Tried putting a bin at the top of steps but it was really in the way.
Please don't tell me not to take so many shoes....I have 5 kids and am well aware of what OUR family minimally needs!
Creative solutions welcome!!
Thanks, Stacey

When we had our pop-up I kept a waterproof box (actually a large footlocker) just outside the door, but in reach. When we got back from the beach, or the store, or wherever, shoes came off and went in the foot locker. As this sat on top of the piece of outdoor carpet we had under the steps and was under the awning, it worked out really well. The foot locker went inside when we traveled.

I figure if anyone was going to steal a bunch of smelly kids shoes and flip flops, they truly needed them more than me.

Ended up with enough room to keep charcoal in there as well. Funny thing, charcoal took away the smell. Bonus.

We wear one pair of shoes at a time. All the xtra pairs are stored in basement storage until required.

A couple of long wide storage boxes under the couch is our usual shoe depot. Just leave the lid off...

Is there a door nearby that you can hang a shoe rack on the back of it?

Half way jack knife the sofa...lift off the kick plate below. Store the shows under the sofa. Throw the kick plate into the storage compartment.

We hung canvas shoe pockets around our queen size bed.

I got tired of tripping over shoes by the door so I built a shoe rack.
As it worked out I get 2 shelves, DW gets 4, go figure.

Jeep,

Good idea (I especially like the charcoal taking care of the smelly kids shoes!) but we don't leave our awning open all the time and I just know I'd have a box full of rainwater along with the shoes. Because no one would close it every time!

We have a shoe pan, or something like that between our fridge and hallway. Gets full quick though with only 4 of us. Outside of that, under the jackknife sofa as bclemens mentioned. Lots of unused storage under there. Crocs usually stay outside just under the mh, regular shoes by our fridge, others if any under the sofa. We try to keep it down to 2 pairs each. On occasion if I bring the redwings or rubber boots, they're just thrown in the back of the toad until needed.

The framework under my entry stairs is the perfect place to put an old oven rack or a piece of metal shelf from a pantry or closet. I use zip ties and leave it attached all the time. Your stairs will fold up and work as normal. This gives the kids a place to put sneakers so they are off the ground and under cover. And you will not forget them because you have to throw them inside the door when you fold up the stairs to go home. All my camping friends have this on their trailers. As I stated, oven racks are the perfect size.

Rugged, as far as I know we've also only been wearing one pair at a time!
My problem come in when 6 pairs of shoes are at the top of my steps and we trip all over them!

Thanks Brian,
That may be what I end up doing. Although I hate looking at that black rubber under the sofa. It is a lot of wasted space and could hold shoes we're not wearing easily.

Texas.....we can barely walk around the bed as it is. I did look at the canvas bags before but had to discount them for a few reasons.
Thanks

In our floorplan, the area across tha back wall of the TT, in the bathroom is "open", for almost 6' feet. I bought a lightweight net, used for replacing a tailgate with something less wind resistant, folded it in half length way, and then attached it about 10" above the floor. It holds shoes, sneakers, flip=flops, sandals, etc., very well!

Wiscampin,

Love the shoe rack! I don't have the space and would need 3 this size but the idea is great!

Sunseekers are not trailers and do not have fold up stairs. They are built in.

I used the canvas bags on my last TT. They fit well under the bed, but of course that would vary from one trailer to another.
