Size matters....

I had another thread going about connecting a Trimetric battery monitor which kind of touched on this, but I'm still looking for answers here so I thought I would post it as it's own item.

So as in most Class C's I've seen, I have a battery compartment that is pretty much barely big enough to hold two 12v batteries. There's maybe an inch of clearance all the way around, and that's about it.

I also have five connections to my main positive post including the connector to my other battery. Aside from the fact that it looks horrible and probably isn't particularly efficient, this method of connecting is going to make it a difficult chore to get the batteries out when I want to, like in winter. (They're AGM batteries which were expensive).

Some of the replies in the previous post mentioned terminal connectors, but I honestly don't have room inside that box to mount something like that AND have any maneuvering room. I couldn't even mount the shunt for the monitoring system on the side which is why it's sitting on top of the battery.

Try not to laugh, but here's what I've got now. Any suggestions as to what if anything you can think of are appreciated.

There are covered terminal blocks that you could mount outside of the compartment.

That's an idea...if I can find a place close to the battery box that isn't too exposed or too low to the ground

take a look behind the wall where the battery switch is located. I am looking at that same location for an inverter to run the satt box from the battery. I would put the connections in a plasic junction boxes.

That's where I have the Trimetric mounted now. And it's probably where I will mount the Solar Charger I'm getting tomorrow. Trying to find some weatherproof boxes for that

This is how I installed my Trimetric if it will help anyone.
I uploaded as a PNG file so feel free to modify it as needed for your rig.
