Solar panel system on my Sunseeker 2300

I made a short video showing the nuts and bolts of my solar installation.

Nice job Snowman! After viewing, I ordered an inline fuse from Renogy for each of my four panels. Initially, I placed one fuse after the combiner. Your assessment concerning a short in a panel makes sense and fusing each panel gives some peace of mind.

The inline fuses are a great solution. I was not aware of them at the time I decided to make up that box.

I felt the same way - there needed to be fuses at the source.
On my Sharp panels that I put on the 2000 Four Winds in 2010, no wiring was included. I installed inline fuse holders within the connection box, then used waterproof electrical connectors through the roof for the wires.
As I used 10 gauge wire from each panel to a combiner box, I used 15A ATC fuses.

Be careful which inline fuse you use. Some of the fuses themselves fit too loosely in their fuse holders which results in an intermittent connection.

I had this frustrating problem when I installed my solar system last season. You should not be able to feel and hear your fuse when you shake the completely fuse assembly.

To fix this problem, I wrapped some electrical tape around the fuse to increase its diameter and then I put a spring in the fuse container so the fuse has no slop along its longer axis.
