I always check the state web sites I will be travelling through as well as county sites I will be staying in.
Good luck!!

I concur that checking with each state directly will ensure you are getting the correct info! And as mentioned by another member, it would also be prudent checking with any municipality that you might be spending time in as well!

I had asked a question in a Locked thread (due to an illegal action being the start of the thread)... Someone is commented on storing their firearm at a legal ffl when going into a non permissive area (Canada or mexico). Any one else do this? Never heard of this or even though of this.
I use the legal heat app and handgunlaw.us for the legal stuff...

While I have never tried this myself, (though I have checked my firearm at the Security Police Armory when staying at military base FAMCAMPs), I assume a phone call to gun shops close to the "non-permissive" area would bear some fruit. You would of course need to plan on re-entering the "permissive area" at the departure point.
If all else fails, leaving the firearm "on consignment" with an outrageous asking price would accomplish the same goal without any risk or (most likely much) cost. Ammo might be problematic as you can't take that across either and would need to be properly disposed of and then repurchased.

I understand, I called Jacksonville NAS when I was going to stay there and asked that a MP meet me at the gate so they could store it at the armory like if I was in the Service, they denied me and said to call a gun range and rent a locker off base...

A lot of ranges / shops will not "store" weapons due to insurance and local / state / federal book keeping reasons. The first range I was a member of would not even store members weapons due to the paper work issues.
Anyway, another possible legal way to "store" your weapon, if the range / shop does repairs, is to turn it in for a good cleaning and service checks. Now the weapon is not being "stored" so the "storage" issues are eliminated. Just make sure the shop understands how long they will have it for cleaning....
Since one FFL dealer can legally transfer a weapon to another FFL dealer that might help with the entry ingress and egress point issues when dealing with non-permissive countries. The range I'm currently a member of charges non-members a $50 transfer fee plus shipping to transfer a weapon to another FFL dealer for them. Obviously both dealers have to agree to this arrangement and you, and the weapon, have to meet all legal requirements at both FFL licensed locations.

The problem with any of the CCW apps I have seen are they are sometimes updated AFTER the fact.
Usually a state site, either AG or State police, depending on the state, will show future information; states' permits added to recognition or reciprocity or states' permits being dropped.
Example, when NV dropped FL and UT a few years ago, the state site had that noted about a month in advance; however, the handgun sites did not, and some didn't update for about a week after the fact. That won't hold with the local police if stopped.
When NV added a few states last month, that was on the site a month earlier, and two of the more well known sites did not update their info until after the fact.
Even the NRA-ILA site is not updated for Idaho. They do not show that NV now recognizes both Idaho permits; regular or enhanced (as of last month).
They still do not show VA, WA or NM recognizing an Idaho Enhanced Permit and SC and MN recognizing an Idaho permit, which they do, but ONLY the enhanced permit. And they also don't show that CO and MI only recognize permits issued to residents of the state that issued the permit.
So if you have a regular Idaho permit and traveled to SC or MN you could get in some deep do-do and if you have an out of state Idaho permit and traveled to MI or CO, you would be in violation of the law.
So just understand these non-official sites are not always kept up to date at all times.
