i think too many people look at this as an either or question.

getting a small motorhome and the toad issue.

if your going on a trip say to alaska and keep constantly moving don't take the toad.

if your going to Florida for 2 months and sitting in one place take the toad.

you don't always have to take the toad and can sometimes take the toad..

happy answers.

Very good advice. I am looking for a rig mainly for short trips. Usually a weekend, perhaps longer, at most 1-2 weeks. So, mobility is important.

We have a 2013, Sunseeker 2300 Ford. We have put 18,500 miles on it since June of 2012 and have never towed a vehicle. We have visited many national parks and have been able to park easily at most trailheads and other points of interests. Maneuvering in city traffic is no problem. When parking in small lots we have backed in allowing the rear end to hang over in the grass. (just remember to look for overhanging trees that might cause a problem) Many campgrounds near attractions or large cities have a shuttle that you can use if you want to leave your motorhome at the campground. You do have to be aware of the height and weight of the unit . There have been a couple of roads that we couldn't use for this reason. Overall not having a toad has not hindered are travels.

Ok, time to brag. I keep a blog on RVing without a toad. Here are my experiences:
