Sway control?

Hi, I'm a new MH owner just but a 2450S and expecting delivery this May (can't wait). I've found this blog to be very useful educating myself and preparing for this acquisition.

I have a question about sway control, I've heard that we can had a component that help with sway control e.g. Prevent sway cause by the aspiration of van on high way.

Is that a real problem with MH and anyone has opinion on the subject?

The only time mine gives me a hard time is when there's a strong cross wind or when a semi buzzes past. I doubt any sway devices would fix that. I think because the 2450 is so short the sway issues aren't a big deal. Or maybe I'm just the lucky one. I'd suggest waiting until you get it. Make sure the tire pressures are right and then decide if you want to spent cash on a sway device. I'm betting you won't need it.

Might look into some hd shocks and a stiffer sway bar on front and add one on the back if it doesn't have one.

Sway has not been a problem on our 2300 (Chevy chassis). In a crosswind, you can add air to the rear air bags for a little stiffer ride and minimize effects of wind. When semis pass, you get pushed a little. I would not really describe that as sway. It is no big deal-you get use to the feel and it really isn't something you even think about. The MH is very easy to drive and very quickly you will become comfortable.

Sway should not be a problem especially with a 24 foot unit. It is not a problem with my 32 foot unit. Just make sure your front end alignment is set properly, ride heights and stance are set with the air bags for the loads you are carrying, and tire pressures are at specification. Also as a general rule load your coach with the heaviest items as low as possible to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. Simple things like canned goods should be on the bottom shelf of the pantry not the top. If it's an item that's heavy and you don't use it often put in one of the lower outside compartments.

It is not a problem at all except strong winds. That would be the problem with most RVs, strong winds. It us 27' long and I would not waste the money.

Thanks for all the advices, it's reassuring!
I had very bad sway experiences when pulling a camper, which is mainly why we bought a MH. Sway caused by a van passing by a MH would never be has bad as the effect on a 5000pds towed vehicle...

I will test drive it for period of time and familiarize my self with the driving of a MH before investing.

For now, I will wait with impatience that all the snow we have can melt so that camping season can start...:-)
