Time to clean Harvey

Well. After about two months of camping spread out over the last six months driving all over the west it was past time to clean Harvey up. If there is an easier way to clean the cab over I'd sure like to hear about it!

I use a brush on a pole that I got from the RV section at Walmart. You can run water through the pole and out the brush like at the car wash but I don't use it that way. It fits in a 5 gallon bucket of soapy water and I rinse separately. Can do it standing on the ground.

Not sure this is the exact one I have, but very similar.

About the only way to clean the cap,is with a long brush or what you are doing. When climbing up, be sure not to flex the fiberglass and go up as far as necessary to reach.
I wash the top part of the overhang when I wash the roof and about a third of the overhang by lying on my belly and reaching over. Clean the remainder with either a brush or ladder as you depended on how dirty it is.
Short of scaffolding, not much else you can do.
The long brush works well but, it's difficult for me to clean around my old style clearance lights.
Just be careful, nice and slow gets the job done.

Thanks for the tips. I do have the long brush but it’s pretty hard to get the bugs off! I also have the Diamond Shield that was applied by first owner. That helps a little.

I wash with the long handle brush as needed, and apply 303 with ladders and a walk board once a year. Keep the camp fires burning.

The way I wax it is with two step ladders and a heavy piece of oak or you could buy an aluminum plank made for ladders. Works great. I put the ladders on either side of the coach so I’m as close to the cap as possible. I use a small kitchen ladder to get on the plank easier.

I use, just like the other,s, bug removal spray and I wash with a extendable soft brush, Miguires car wash or RV wash and wax. Works very well.

What I found works best is Dawn dish soap and Simple Green. I spray the cap, let it sit for a minute and then scrub with the brush. Takes most of the stuff off. Will strip wax if you waxed it though, so don't do it unless you don't wax at all or will be waxing after the wash.

try this. I use their wash/wax and it is great.

I use a long handle mop with a towel wrapped around it when it is damp/wet in the mornings to clean the bugs. I do it regularly...do not wait with bugs. Windshield and cap underside also.

Lucas spray detailer/wax also regularly. I can get almost half way up standing on the bumper. Then I go up on the roof, lay down and hit the top half.
Mine still looks new after 3 years.
Trick is to keep up on it..
No ladders.
