Tire size?

What number on your tires tells you their size? Looking to buy covers and not sure what size I need for my 3170. Thanks all-learning a lot from the people here since I'm such a newbie.

As an example...........

P215/60R16 would be a 16" tire.....that means it fits on a 16" rim.

But to get a cover for a tire..........measure the outside distance at it's widest point to get a tire cover that fits right, across the face of the wheel/tire. The kinds of numbers described above don't tell you the size you need for covers.

You likely have a 225/75R16 which is approx 29.3" in diameter
